The Story of Kong Dog Toys

Kong Toys Dog and Training Products

There once was a German Shepherd named Fritz who loved to chew rocks. The rocks were hard on his teeth. His owner, Joe Markham, unable to break him of this destructive habit, was very frustrated because he couldn’t find anything else that Fritz would rather chew.

One day when Joe was working on his Volkswagen Van, Fritz started chewing on rocks once again. So Joe, in desperation began disassembling his van and throwing parts toward Fritz to see if he could entice him away from the rocks. Nothing seemed to work until he pulled off a suspension part.

Fritz may have invented Kong but it was Joe who saw the potential of a VW suspension part.

Production of this super strong rubber toy began in 1976. Today millions of dogs around the world can attest to its durability and unpredictable bounce. Kong Toys are used and recommended by veterinarians, trainers, and dog owners.
